God Can Never Stop Loving You

Meditate on:

1 John 4:16 AMP

“We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.”

God Can Never Stop Loving You

Growing up in a single-parent home and as the middle child of five, I often battled with feelings of rejection and low self-esteem, even though my mother loved me deeply.

As I progressed through school, I excelled academically and socially, but that was only a setup for a life of "performance." I was afraid to make mistakes; I hid so many things from my friends and family. I thought that if I “kept up the good work," got a scholarship and went to college that my future would be secure and I would make my mom proud.

One day I was alone in my room and felt a nudge to look at my birth certificate, something that previously brought a lot of insecurity and shame. God began to show me that I no longer had to "fake it till I made it," and that I could be myself -- even if that meant showing brokenness and weakness. Many people have asked how I overcame my shortcomings. The answer is that I found my strength in Him. God gave me a solid foundation to stand upon, without fear or a struggle. As I put my trust in Him, He made my footing sure. Isaiah 26:7 says, "The way of the righteous is smooth; O upright one, make the path of the righteous level."

The Lord reminded me that even though the circumstances of life are not perfect, He has given me a smooth and level path to walk down. When I accepted His invitation to abide in Him, I also consented to being totally loved, highly favored, and completely protected. I didn't know it at the time, but I was being led by His Spirit even as a little girl. I knew that I was destined for greatness, and it wasn't based on anything I could have done. God's love pushed past the rejection, abandonment, low self-esteem, fatherlessness, and all of my shortcomings. God's love never failed! (See Psalm 136:1) I realized that my job was to BELIEVE in the love God has for me. The good news is that He has the same unconditional love for you!

1 John 4:9 says, "God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him." If you're reading this, I want you to know that God's love is a finished work! He can never stop loving you. Open your heart to Him today.
